How to Communicate Effectively with Clients on Fiverr?
A lot of freelancers are suffering on Fiverr because of their poor communication skills.
On Fiverr, you can win clients in two ways.
By doing proper SEO of your Fiverr Gig
By sending effective buyer requests.
Your Buyer Request needs your communication skills. If a client becomes impressed by your Buyer Request, he will send you a message. Now, you have to assure him that you are the right fit for his project.
If a client becomes impressed because of the SEO of your gig, he will also message you to communicate with you.
In both cases, you need communication skills to win the client.
You have faced or heard that a client contacted a freelancer but didn't place the order. Or, a client never came back to a freelancer after completing the first order. Many freelancers complained about it without realizing their mistakes.
What is their mistake?
Their mistake is not polishing their communication skills. They don't have effective communication skills so clients get annoyed and run away from them.
You must avoid this mistake if you want to be a successful freelancer.
So, how will you polish your communication skills? How will you win the clients? I'm going to discuss the points which you should keep in your mind while communicating with clients.
Polish your English Language:
You should have basic knowledge of the English Language!
If you don't know the language, how will you convey your meaning and emotions effectively?
You should know the basics of Grammar and English vocabulary to communicate with your client.
For it, attend an English language course or watch any YouTube video. Also, practice it with your friends and family.
Speak to them in English, and type messages in English for better communication.
Gradually, your English will start improving and it will polish your communication skills.
Use Professional Tone:
You should be professional while communicating with clients. For that, take care of the following tips.
Don't use fancy English words.
Don't beg for an order.
Don't use "Sir/Madam".
Use a formal tone.
Don't use any vulgar words.
Remain calm.
Do remember that you are an entrepreneur and a skilled person. So, show it in your communication.
Use the client's name in your communication and buyer request. Don't fret or pressurize him to place the order. Answer his questions, share your strategy and then ask for placing orders.
Don't use the "Me" Strategy
The client is contacting you for a solution to his problem. So, focus on the problem and solution only. Don't start bragging about your expertise.
You should introduce yourself, but keep it short and to the point.
Introduce your years of experience relevant to the client's field. For example, if the client wants to hire you for content writing, you should keep your introduction to the content writing field.
Don't start telling your client about your other skills as it will annoy him.
Also, don't brag about your expertise for impressing the client. Just share your strategy for solving the client's issue and the client will know about your expertise.
Understand his project as soon as possible:
You should understand your client's requirements and work as soon as possible.
For it, ask him to give you the whole details. Never hesitate to show your confusion regarding the project. When you try to understand and solve your client's issue, he will be impressed with you.
Check about his requirements on Google. And try to solve it a little bit before starting the project.
It will give you an idea of whether you can solve the project or not.
If you can't solve it, never take the project.
Ask Questions:
To keep your conversation going on, ask interesting questions in every message.
For example, if a client wants content writing work, you can ask for a specific topic, word limit or any other requirements of the client.
Do tell him what your services will include. For example, in content writing, you can tell your client that you can add images too if he wants. Or, you can do SEO keyword research for him.
Either ask about his requirements and tell him about your services to attract him and to communicate with you.
For it, you should put value in your services. Learn and add as many aspects to it as you want. When you give maximum value to the client, your communication will remain flow.
Swift replies:
Try to answer your client as quickly as you can. It will also keep your communication in a flow and clients will be impressed with your swift replies.
For it, I will suggest you download the Fiverr Mobile app on your mobile and keep its notification on. Whenever a client will message you, you will get a notification.
When you will approach the client on time and will keep your tone professional, you will be able to win the client.
Don't send offers directly:
Suppose a client contacts you, saying that he wants a service you are offering. Here, you should have a detailed discussion with him before sending the custom offer.
If you will directly send him the offer or ask him to place the order on your Gig before discussing anything, it will show that you desperately want the order.
This will upset your client!
First, discuss with him his project, and ask him about his requirements, budget and time limit. Tell yours and fix everything with mutual understanding.
It will solidify your understanding and collaboration.
Keep him updated about the Project:
This point is crucial if you want client retention.
When the client places an order, keep on telling him about your progress on his project.
Ask questions while completing his projects or share your points of view on how his project can become better.
Keep your conversation going on while completing his order to build a relationship of trust.
In the end, I just want to add that never ignore the importance of communication skills in the freelance world. It is imperative to win clients on Fiverr or other freelance worlds.
If you don't have this skill, all your other skills are wasted. So, start working on your communication skills from today to become a successful entrepreneur tomorrow!
